Goethe-Institut China, Originality Square, 798 Art District, Jiuxianqiao Road 2, Chaoyang District, Beijing
On Saturday, October 21st at 2 pm Beijing22 with the support by Goethe-Institut China will launch the project platform and the open call with a presentation by artist Ute Adamczewski. Guided by Antonie Angerer, Anna-Viktoria Eschbach and Jannis Schulze (founders of Beijing22), it will also host a quick-fire discussion about city planning, the built environment and the world that surrounds it.
Ute Adamczewski is a video artist and filmmaker from Germany. Her work revolves around the urban fabric as a mirror of society. During her residency at I: project space in autumn 2017 she was working on the video project I:conditions, which addresses the Chinese city as a showcase for radical transformation. In a film arrangement, I:conditions observes routines: dwelling, work, leisure. Filmed in the infinite high rise-compounds which represent Beijing, each video reveals the interdependence between the urban environs and a protagonist who lives and works there. Within each subjective spatial description, differing realities become visible.
